SYNOPSIS: Marie is a modern-day teenager living with her single-parent mother in a small country town. Accompanied by a man who is a small-time crook, she decides to leave home and start her own life in Brussels, where she meets her companion's seven-year-old son Tonio. Tragically, Tonio's father is killed and Marie, who is herself already pregnant, agrees to look after the young boy, and together they set out on a journey to try and find his mother.
